Robotic Observatories

ROBOsky observatories are fully automated, completely unattended and remotely accessible. No one is required on-site to prepare the observatory for use, maintain it or keep it safe. This is achieved through an extensive array of sensors, software, digital controllers and back-up systems. We use 2.5 or 3.65 meter observatories for both remote and manual observing. These domes can hold 2-5 guests, can be voice activated and can include a planetarium projection system.

Telescopes

ROBOsky observatories use equatorially-mounted, 6"-24" aperture auto-focusing telescopes as their primary optical instruments. Multiple small-aperture telescopes for wide-field views ride "piggy back". Solar Telescopes equipped with professional-grade Hydrogen Alpha filters and white light filters are used during the day for spectacular views of the sun in multiple wavelengths.

Imaging Systems

Each observatory and telescope is equipped with multiple imaging cameras allowing users to view the telescopes in action and capture detailed astro-images and videos. Cameras include digital CCD cameras, DSLR Cameras, composite video cameras, and web cameras ...all having interactive user-controls. Deep sky objects such as galaxies, nebula, asteroids and clusters are imaged with the CCD Digital Deep Sky Camera. A Wide-field Digital Web Camera is ideal for locating yourself on the solar or lunar surface. The Planetary Composite Video Camera is configured for capturing or videotaping planetary, lunar and solar details. Super Wide-field Digital Web Cameras provide interior observatory views and monitor cloud cover during the day. A DSLR Camera can be used to capture star fields.

Software Control

Control of the equipment is done through multiple software packages which handle the various instruments. Each program is scriptable and can share information with the other programs providing integrated control. Once you've logged on to the observatory you will see an image acquisition control panel, live interior dome views, sensor data, and much more. The only software you require is an internet browser.
